Maurizio Sarri Calls On Chelsea To Decide Future Of Eden Hazard

Dec 28, 2018 10:34 AM

Maurizio Sarri has told Chelsea that it is "time to decide" the future of Eden Hazard for the good of the club.

Hazard's deal expires in 2020 and he has yet to sign an extension despite aggressive attempts from Chelsea.

Hazard has been offered a contract worth more than £300,000 per week.

Hazard has made no secret of his desire to one day play for Real Madrid.

“I think that it’s time to decide,” Sarri said. “Will I sit down with him? No, because I don’t have the power to do this. I am the coach, I am not the president. I am not in charge of the market. I want to speak to him only about his position on the pitch. We have to solve this problem if we want to program the future.”

Hazard has been used as a false nine recently, but he has been clear he wants to move back to the left wing.

“I cannot see the problem of Hazard in this role – he played four matches [there] and scored three goals and made two assists,” Sarri said. “I am really very happy with him in this position because he is very able to score, first of all; very able to open spaces for teammates and very able to come to play with teammates.

“At the moment I am very happy with him in this position. In the future, he can play also as a winger, of course. I don’t know if he prefers to play as a winger but if he is able to play like in the last match in the centre, for me it’s not a problem to put him in the center.”

David De Gea Moving Closer To Long-Term Commitment To United

Dec 20, 2018 9:26 AM

David De Gea is moving closer to signing a long-term deal with Manchester United.

De Gea has been unconvinced by the merits of a transfer from United to Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain.

De Gea has made no secret in the past of his desire to return to Spain, and was close to a 2015 transfer to Real Madrid. Madrid has since signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea.

Juventus couldn't match United's contract offer to De Gea and PSG has waning interest.

The only real threat to United is if Real Madrid or Barcelona change their mind and pursue De Gea.

Arsenal Targeting Center Back During January Transfer Window

Dec 12, 2018 11:24 PM

Unai Emery would like Arsenal to add a center-back during the January transfer window.

Arsenal are facing a shortage of defenders after Rob Holding was ruled out for the season last week with a torn knee ligament, while Laurent Koscielny is only now ready to play his first game of the campaign after recovering from an Achilles injury.

"If we can take one player to help us at center-back, I think it's a good option," Emery said. "But a transfer is not easy."

Manchester United's Eric Bailly and Chelsea's Gary Cahill have been identified as options.

Eden Hazard: You Know Me, I've Always Loved Real Madrid

Dec 11, 2018 6:09 PM

Eden Hazard again talked about his admiration for Real Madrid in an interview.

Hazard's future with Chelsea remains uncertain without a long-term contract. Hazard is signed through 2020.

"You know me, I've always loved Real Madrid, even before Zidane. We'll see what happens,” Hazard said. “Like I said, I'm finishing this year with Chelsea. I still have a year of contract. After this year, we'll see."

Hazard didn't rule out the possibility of remaining with Chelsea.

"The new coach (Maurizio Sarri) thinks about football like I do, so we'll see. The family is in London, I am going to be 28 years old. I don’t want to have any regrets at the end of my career. It is a decision I am going to make. I don’t know when, but I'll take it."

Dec 11, 2018 9:02 AM

Franck Ribery will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season.

Ribery, 35, is approaching the end of his current contract.

Ribery has made 406 competitive appearances for Bayern, scoring 119 goals, and has featured in 19 games this season.

"I am pleased that Franck is still playing that well," Salihamidzic said. "He's one of our key players."

Atlanta Pays $17M Release Clause To Sign Pity Martinez Of River Plate

Dec 10, 2018 11:30 AM

Gonzalo "Pity" Martinez has said he will leave River Plate and join Atlanta United after the World Cup.

"I want to inform people that in January I will not continue," Martinez told TyC Sports. "It's been a very difficult decision for me, but my journey continues. I think I've given people what they deserve, and that is everything for those who supported me."

Atlanta have reportedly agreed to pay the Argentina international's $17 million release clause.

Asked why he had chosen Atlanta, Martinez said: "It's the club that has put its trust in me. European clubs did not put their trust in me at the time, and I thought long and hard about it with my family and my agent.

"The MLS is a league that has grown a lot, and I hope I can keep on making history at that club."

David Luiz's Chelsea Future Uncertain Due To Over-30 Contract Policy

Dec 10, 2018 9:58 AM

The future of David Luiz with Chelsea could be in peril if they don't change the club policy of only offering one-year extensions to players in their thirties.

Luiz has been outstanding for Chelsea in his second stint with the club.

Luiz would like to stay with Chelsea, but he also wants more than a one-year extension.

Foreign clubs can start negotiating with him from January over a summer move under freedom of contract.

“I am just trying to enjoy myself, like I do every single day,” said David Luiz when asked about the uncertainty over his future. “Then, for sure, we will do the best thing for me, for Chelsea, for everybody. We are still talking, let’s see. Let’s see what the future brings. I love this club, everybody knows I want to stay.”

United Will Refuse To Sell Paul Pogba In January

Dec 10, 2018 9:53 AM

Manchester United will reject any attempts from rival teams to buy Paul Pogba during the January transfer window.

Juventus reportedly has growing interest in re-signing Pogba.

Pogba cost United a then-world record £89 million when returned to the club from Juventus in August 2016.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford is increasingly uncertain following a turbulent season.

Barcelona also has long had interest in Pogba, but their growing wage bill will make it unlikely they can make a move for him.
